To strengthen health and education equity in the face of unprecedented challenges, we need a new generation of interventions that can match treatments to the unique and evolving needs of each individual, and to their changing context. At the same time, we need solutions that minimize cost and burden for patients and practitioners.

The promise of adaptive interventions.

To improve health and education outcomes for the greatest number of individuals, practitioners must deliver interventions that account for the diversity of human physiology, psychology, and lived experience. These interventions must also respond appropriately and efficiently to changes in the needs of individuals.

Adaptive interventions (AI) deliver individually-tailored, person-centered treatments of the right type, in the right amount, at the right time.

Advancing the science of adaptive interventions.

To construct the best possible adaptive intervention for the problem they aim to address, researchers need digitally-enabled intervention delivery frameworks and an empirical approach to intervention design.

Our interdisciplinary team of data scientists is developing a portfolio of innovative intervention frameworks and optimization trial designs within an ecosystem of statistical methods, educational materials, and software to support their use. Intervention scientists around the world are already using this advanced toolkit to unlock the full potential of adaptive interventions.
