About Mark Newman
Mark Newman is a Professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Information and College of Engineering, and a collaborator with the d3center. His research focuses on the design of ubiquitous computing systems—including mobile, IoT, and smart technologies—with applications in personal informatics and digital health. He is currently leading a d3center-funded pilot project to develop the personalizing JITAI (pJITAI) Toolbox, a no-code, web-based system that enables health researchers to design and deploy reinforcement learning algorithms for mHealth interventions. The Toolbox provides a graphical interface to guide users through configuring the personalization component of a JITAI and generates a hosted web service and documentation to support integration.
