About Ewa Czyz

Ewa Czyz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School and a faculty affiliate of the d3center. Her research focuses on youth suicide prevention, with an emphasis on personalizing care through adaptive interventions and mobile health strategies. She collaborates closely with Dr. Inbal Billie Nahum-Shani on multiple NIMH-funded studies that apply d3center methods—such as sequential multiple assignment randomized trial (SMART) and micro-randomized trial (MRT) experimental designs—to optimize standard adaptive and just-in-time adaptive interventions (JITAIs). Ongoing studies utilize technology-supported intervention components (e.g., portal communication, supportive text messages) to adolescents and/or caregivers following discharge from inpatient or emergency department care, aiming to lower youth suicidal behavior and improve post-discharge functioning.
