Question
Within an adaptive intervention, do the intervention options at any given decision point need to be similar in their dosage (i.e., frequency, duration, or intensity)?
Answer
No. In fact, a goal of an adaptive intervention is to guide which intervention to provide based on a patient’s changing status. Therefore, the dosage (frequency, duration or intensity) or other characteristics of the available intervention options are not likely to be similar.
