About David M. Fresco

David M. Fresco is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School and faculty affiliate at the Institute for Social Research. He is a co-investigator on the d3center’s NIDA-funded P50 Center of Excellence and collaborates on clinical trials that apply adaptive intervention methodologies, including SMARTs and JITAIs, to optimize mental health treatment. His research focuses on anxiety and mood disorders, using tools from affective neuroscience such as functional neuroimaging, psychophysiology, and inflammatory markers. He also develops mindfulness-based interventions informed by contemplative science and investigates how emotion regulation strategies can reduce distress in everyday life.
